Bore Packing Sand

Water bore filter packs

Graded packing sand for water bores — placed around the bore screen to filter the inflow and keep the fines out of the pump.

How it’s made

When a bore goes in, the gap around the screen gets packed with graded sand — it's the bore's first filter, and if the grading's wrong the bore pumps dirt. Ours is washed, screened to an even cut and supplied consistent, load after load.

In a water bore, the annulus between the screen and the formation is packed with graded sand or gravel. That pack does two things: it lets water through freely to the screen, and it holds the surrounding formation back so fine material doesn't migrate in. Get it right and the bore runs clean; get it wrong and you either choke the flow or pump sand for the life of the bore.

The pack is sized against the formation it's holding back and the slot size of the screen — which is why it's a graded product rather than whatever sand is nearest. It also needs to be clean, because fines in the pack are exactly what you're trying to keep out of the bore.

MRP Sand Quarry is an inland sand quarry — nothing is dredged off a coastline. Inland deposits hold a far wider range of grain sizes than coastal sand, so we screen and cut sizes from ultra fines right up to coarse, and because the sand has never been near seawater there's no salt in it. Tell us the size the job needs and we cut to it.
