Lawn Top Dressing

Lawn levelling

A sandy top dressing for established lawns — spreads thin, works down between the leaves and levels the surface without smothering the grass.

How it’s made

Top dressing has to disappear into the lawn: sandy enough to spread thin, fine enough to settle between the runners, with enough body to hold moisture at the roots. Blended at the quarry in controlled batches so every load behaves the same.

The point of top dressing is to fill hollows and level a surface without burying the grass that's already there. That means it has to be sandy enough to spread thin and fine enough to work down between the runners — a heavy mix sits on top, smothers the leaf and kills the lawn it was meant to fix.

Levelling a lawn is a series of thin applications rather than one thick one. Each pass fills the low spots a bit more while the grass grows through, so the surface comes up level over a season without the lawn ever being buried.

MRP Sand Quarry is an inland sand quarry — nothing is dredged off a coastline. Inland deposits hold a far wider range of grain sizes than coastal sand, so we screen and cut sizes from ultra fines right up to coarse, and because the sand has never been near seawater there's no salt in it. Tell us the size the job needs and we cut to it.
