An organic sandy blend made for the layer under new turf — spreads easily, levels cleanly and gives roots something to take hold in.
How it’s made
Blended at the quarry in controlled batches — sand for drainage and easy spreading, organics for the roots to feed on. Batched carefully so every load spreads, levels and grows the same as the one before it.
New turf lives or dies in its first month, and that comes down to the layer it's laid on. It needs to spread and level easily so there are no hollows for water to sit in, drain freely enough that roots aren't sitting wet, and hold enough organic matter and moisture for the roots to push into. Straight sand drains but starves; straight soil holds water and goes boggy. A blend does both jobs.
Blends only work if the ratio is the same every load. Batched in controlled quantities means the load that finishes the back yard spreads and grows the same as the load that started the front — which matters when a lawn is going to be looked at side by side for the next ten years.
MRP Sand Quarry is an inland sand quarry — nothing is dredged off a coastline. Inland deposits hold a far wider range of grain sizes than coastal sand, so we screen and cut sizes from ultra fines right up to coarse, and because the sand has never been near seawater there's no salt in it. Tell us the size the job needs and we cut to it.
