Kiln dried sand graded for sand filters — clean, even-sized grains that trap the fines and backwash clean, season after season.
How it’s made
A sand filter is only as good as how even its sand is: consistent grain size is what makes water flow evenly and dirt stay caught. Ours is washed, kiln dried and cut to an even filter grading — clean, dry and bagged straight off the line.
Water is pushed down through a bed of graded sand, and the gaps between the grains trap the dirt on the way through. It only works if the grading is right: too fine and the bed blocks and the pressure climbs, too coarse and the dirt goes straight through and the water stays cloudy. Consistent, correctly graded sand is the entire mechanism.
Dry sand pours cleanly into the filter body and beds down evenly without trapping air pockets or clumping around the laterals — which is what gives you an even flow through the whole bed rather than channels running through part of it.
MRP Sand Quarry is an inland sand quarry — nothing is dredged off a coastline. Inland deposits hold a far wider range of grain sizes than coastal sand, so we screen and cut sizes from ultra fines right up to coarse, and because the sand has never been near seawater there's no salt in it. Tell us the size the job needs and we cut to it.
